Overview
AutoEDMS is typically installed on a shared Windows fileserver drive, but for slow networks, such as in a WAN environment, AutoEDMS can be installed on local workstation hard drives and configured to share files and data from a central fileserver.
This option reduces network traffic and improves the performance of the AutoEDMS system. AutoEDMS can also be installed on a thin-client server such as Windows Terminal Server or Citrix Metaframe/XenApp, which minimizes the setup requirements on individual user workstations.
Supported Operating Systems
AutoEDMS is a 32-bit Windows application and runs under 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Windows operating system, including Windows 7 and Windows 10.
Workstation Requirements
AutoEDMS requires a workstation computer with Intel Core i3 or better processor, and a minimum of 4 Gb of RAM. Minimal workstation disk space (less than 1 Mb) is required since all program modules are stored on a shared fileserver.
Server Requirements
For the host Windows fileserver, AutoEDMS requires an Intel Core i7 or Xeon processor, and equipped with at least 12 Gb of RAM if the Windows OS is 2008 or later*. The server itself can be 'physical' or 'virtual', and the RAM requirements mentioned here would apply to either type. Disk space required on the host Windows server is 10gb, although each installation varies in amount of actual disk space used. This number does not include space required for "managed" drawing and document files which may also be stored on the same server machine. Windows Server OS versions up to and including 2016 are supported.
*Note: AutoEDMS does not require a “dedicated server”, but RAM requirements indicated here may not be adequate if one or more other server-based applications are installed on the same server machine – contact Logical Systems for more information.
Connectivity Requirements
AutoEDMS supports all manner of connectivity methods between AutoEDMS sites, as long as workstations have "file service" access to the remote servers (attached as a network user).

Please Note: Because the AutoEDMS databases operate client/server under Windows, WAN traffic is very minimal and successful communication systems can be based on a lower speed communication-line (Figure 17), although higher speed communication line speeds are recommended, and batch transmissions of files definitely requires higher speed data links.
